Knowing is Believing: Birth Activism, “Choice” and Education (or “Birth in America Still Needs a lot of Work!”)

Robbie Davis-Floyd

Here’s a link to a reprint of an article by esteemed birth anthropologist Robbie Davis-Floyd.

Robbie has worked for several decades helping to educate the public about the fractured American medical maternity system, other choices in childbirth for women and who Certified Professional Midwives are.  She emphasizes empowerment through education and informed choice.

Robbie is a huge inspiration to me.  Her work–and her words in this article–are a big influence on my own work.

Here’s to empowerment to women around birth–and to you Robbie, for all your great work!

The article is posted on the blog, “Mother’s Advocate”
